Just finished reading "Fake: Forgery, Lies, & eBay" by Kenneth Walton. Although it was fake and fraudulent *paintings* that Walton was selling and shill bidding on eBay, there are valuable lessons for those of us who buy jades there. You can see some reviews of it at Amazon's site http://tinyurl.com/l725b

JF,
Thanks for telling us about this book! I find this book interesting, and I plan to order a signed copy from the author himself. I applaud Ken's courage in sharing his own hard-learned lesson with the publics. Ken immediately elevated his social status to a folk hero by creating/educating public awareness of the possible pitfalls in eBay biddings.
We all know that there are too many ebay sellers aiming at defrauding the bidders such as those selling newly dyed Burmese jadeites as antique Chinese jades and even calling them Hongshan Neolithic jades. There are actually fewer honest sellers who would stand-behind their listed items by offering money-back quarrantee. eBay may need to hire some investigators who are experts to search around the listings and penalize those who are obviously defrauding the publics.
